Chocolate Milk Is NOT a Good Post Workout Drink!

By
Chocolate milk is high in sugar, saturated fat and calories. The second ingredient is sugar. The carbohydrates it contains are not the good kind. The protein it claims to have is about 1/4 the serving of a single scoop of most protein powders. Did I mention it's mostly sugar? Even the caramel coloring used to give it that rich creamy chocolate look are more heated sugars and starches. Just because a commercial tells you something, does not necessarily mean it's true. I would not encourage you to drink chocolate milk as a post workout protein aid or a carbohydrate boost.
Also of note, we are the only species on earth that drinks another animal's milk. We are also the only species that continue to drink milk after infancy. Scandinavian and North American countries consume the most milk of all countries and have the highest cancer rates. Japanese drink the least amount of milk and have the lowest cancer rate. We have no idea what growth hormones these cows are being injected with and how it affects their milk.
Aside from nursing babies, young children and elderly adults who absolutely need the vitamin D for bone growth and strengthening, children and adults age 10 to 60 should cut back or cut out the consumption of animal milk all together. A healthier alternative would be almond milk. Almond milk is comprised of water and ground almonds. It has more nutrients, vitamins and minerals. It also has a taste which many people prefer to cow's milk.
