All varieties of tea contain catechins but green tea, which is
less processed than oolong or types of black tea, contains more
catechins. There have been many studies involving the benefits of using
tea as a diet aid and demonstrating its fat burning properties. In one
study men who drank green tea in their diets lost nearly double the
weight of men who drank none as part of their diet programmes. It was
also reported that the men who drank green tea with 660 mg of catechins
also experienced greater reductions in waist size as compared with men
who drank black tea containing just 22 mg of catechins.
