For Effective Weight Loss, Combine Diet and Exercise

If you are dieting and the weight is just not coming off, or the scales tell you that you have lost pounds but your pants don't feel any looser then you will want to read this article. Specifically we will discuss the benefits of a healthy weight loss program combined with exercise. After reading this article you should understand why exercise is so important for effective weight loss.
Effective weight loss begins with choosing a healthy diet plan. A healthy diet plan consists of changing your eating habits by eating smarter. Increasing fresh fruits and vegetables, adding fish at
least once a week for dinner, reducing fat intake, eating breakfast and eating smaller portions are the basics of a healthy diet plan.

Now that you have started a healthy diet program, you need to add exercise to reach your goal for effective weight loss.

What benefits can be expected from exercising?
  • Exercise tones the body. Toning is very important for dieters; you don't want to be slender and saggy, you want to be slender with supple skin and muscles.

  • It also promotes heart health by improving the body's circulation.

  • Exercise releases endorphins in the brain that make you feel happy and energetic. It is also a natural diet aid; you will feel less hungry after exercising.

  • Exercising increases weight loss by burning carbohydrates in the body (fat cells). One can easily turn a simple healthy diet plan into a 'fast weight loss' program simply by adding exercise

  • Exercising is a great sleep aid; you will find that your nights are spent in blissful sleep, no tossing, turning or waking up during the night

  • Relieves stress.
Exercise is a word that makes some people shrink back with dread. Many people will spend hours thinking of excuses to avoid exercise. "I'm too busy" tops the list of excuses for exercise avoidance, followed by "I can't, it would kill me". Neither of these statements are a valid reason to avoid exercise. Exercise should not be boring, a chore or expensive. It should be fun and something to look forward to.

Most people have a mental picture of what exercise is; a 45 minute video of extreme aerobics, a 2 hour work out at the gym or jogging 5 miles a day. (Most of us would die if we hopped off the couch and jumped into one of those routines). A good exercise program does not have to include any of the above listed routines. Lets examine a few ways to make exercise a fun and rewarding experience.
  • Get a group together at work, and take a 15-minute walk at lunch or break time. The walk goes by quickly because you have friends to talk with as your walking. This will also get the 'diet talk' started, and you will end up with several friends who have something in common to talk about and help each other.

  • Take your dog for a 15-minute walk in the evenings. Your dog will be ecstatic to be taken for a walk, and you will feel good for giving him some joy.

  • Start a small flower or vegetable garden. Gardening involves a lot of stooping, bending and walking. The benefit is that you will get to enjoy the sight of beautiful flowers growing in your yard, or enjoy fresh vegetables from your garden.

  • Housework is a necessary evil, but it has to be done. Doing housework also counts as exercise. The acts of vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and dusting burn extra calories.

  • Mow the lawn

  • Rake leaves
As you can see, there are many, many ways to exercise that do not take up a lot time, and that are doable by almost everyone. Once the pounds begin to drop away you will be even more compelled to continue eating healthy and exercising. You will find that you are stronger and you may want to escalate your exercise routine. That is up to you. You will also notice a general sense of well-being that was not previously there.

The reader of this article should now know why exercise is so important, and how to incorporate exercise into a daily routine so that does eat away the days 'extra' time. You have been made aware that an exercise routine can be started slowly, and then built upon.

By combining diet and exercise, you will reach your goal of effective weight loss, and be able to maintain the newly found you.
